Applications

Where commercial imagery ends up

Commercial photography is defined by its destination. A marketplace listing, a printed catalogue spread and a paid social advert have different technical requirements and different licensing implications.

Product photography

Individual items photographed consistently across a range, so a catalogue or listing page reads as one coherent set rather than a collection of one-offs.

E-commerce imagery

Listing images built to marketplace and platform requirements, including background, margin and aspect-ratio rules that vary by channel.

Service photography

Imagery for businesses that sell work rather than objects — showing the process, the people and the result in a way a service page can use.

Catalogue content

Larger sets photographed to a repeatable specification, with consistent scale, angle and lighting maintained across every item.

Website imagery

Images produced with the layout in mind, including wide crops and negative space where headings or overlays will sit.

Campaign visuals

Concept-led imagery built around a specific message, planned with the creative direction and usage agreed before the shoot.

Advertising materials

Photography intended for paid placement, where usage licensing, clearance and any third-party rights need settling in advance.

Brand direction

Work that follows existing brand guidance on colour, styling and composition so new imagery sits alongside the current library.

Consistency

The same angle, the same light, forty times over

Most of the value in product photography is repeatability. A set that varies in scale, angle or colour temperature looks careless on a listing page, however good any single frame is.

Preparation

What needs to be ready before the shoot

Product shoots run on preparation. Items arriving late, damaged or in the wrong variant is the most common reason a commercial session overruns.

Before you enquire

What shapes this service

Common questions

Questions worth asking early

Can you photograph products on a plain white background?

Yes, and it is a common requirement for marketplace listings. Worth noting that a pure white background is a specification rather than an automatic result: it depends on the item, its surface and the lighting setup, and it is agreed as part of scope.

How should products be sent or presented?

Clean, undamaged and in the condition you want them to appear. Product condition has a direct effect on how much retouching is needed, and heavy correction of scratches, dust or damaged packaging is additional work rather than something absorbed into a standard edit.

Will this photography increase sales?

No promise is made about that. Marketing performance and commercial outcomes are not guaranteed, because they depend on pricing, listing quality, competition, audience and many other factors outside photography. What is offered is consistent, well-prepared imagery built to the specification agreed.

Do reflective or transparent products cost more to photograph?

They take longer, which affects scope rather than carrying a fixed surcharge. Glass, polished metal and clear packaging all need more controlled lighting and more careful setup, so it helps to mention them at enquiry stage.

Can the images be used in a paid advertising campaign?

Usage for advertising is agreed specifically rather than assumed, as it is treated differently from website or catalogue use. Tell us the intended placement at enquiry stage so licensing, and any clearance the campaign requires, can be discussed before production.

Visual media enquiries

Tell us what photography, video, editing, printing, framing or visual media project you need.

Share the purpose, date, location and intended usage, and we will come back on what is practical, what the scope would cover and what needs to be agreed before production begins.

Enquiries are answered individually. Services are subject to agreed scope, availability and project requirements.
